2015-06-06

On June 5th, a sponsorship agreement has been signed between Saint-Gobain and the "LycéeFrançais de Shanghai" for the construction of its brand new 2nd campus in Shanghai.

This new building is intended to replace the old campus of Pudong and is planned to be ready for use by September 2017.

By then the new school should be able to welcome up to 1000 children, from kindergarten to high school, doubling the capacity of the current campus in Pudong.

The LyceeFrancais opened its 1st campus in 1996 in Shanghai with just 23 kids; 19 years later the number of students is above 1550.

The new campus' design is based on the philosophy of pleasure of knowledge, art of living, development of children, parental satisfaction, adults comfort, respecting environmental conditions and green approach. The new buildings will be eco-friendly infrastructure with air quality control and aims at getting the LEED certification.

Saint-Gobain is the first corporate sponsor to join this project.

As indicated during the signing ceremony by Javier Gimeno, General Delegate in Asia Pacific, "as part of our policy of social responsibility, Saint-Gobain is happy and proud to contribute to this key project for the French community in China".

Besides its financial contribution, Saint-Gobain will also support the project during the phases of design and construction so that the new building might meet the highest standards in terms of sustainable habitat and energy efficiency.
